Casino Gaming in the MidAtlantic
Nevada is not the only hot spot in the United States for extraordinary casino gaming experiences. Several states along the MidAtlantic also offer their own brand of gambling fun, complete with the glamour and a local flavor of night life that you would expect from a gaming area out West. These locations are ideal for daytrips, a weekend getaway, or an extra day of fun when a nearby area.

Atlantic City, New Jersey

The premiere destination for gambling in the MidAtlantic and all of the East Coast is Atlantic City in New Jersey. Assuming you can tear yourself away from the flashing lights and dinging bells of the interior casinos, the Atlantic City area also offers visitors a grand boardwalk with shopping and proximity to the beach. Spend lunch outside with your toes in the sand and the sun smiling down. Or experience the nightlife and fine dining of the dinnertime hours.

Dover, Delaware

Delaware Park is a long-time favorite destination for many, especially with its location in Delaware where shopping is duty free. There are outlets galore in Delaware and worth the detour for a few moments of respite from the gambling excitement.

Charles Town, West Virginia

Not to be confused with Charleston, West Virginia, the capitol city of the state of West Virginia, Charles Town is the hottest destination for gambling in the southern half of the MidAtlantic. Outside of the gambling area, there are bed and breakfasts and romantic getaway inns that can take you away from the stress of the day-to-day world. Nearby is also Locust Hill Golf Course and historic Beall Air, an 18th century home rounding out the George Washington Heritage Trail.

The State of New York and Niagara Falls

Home to several Native American gambling sites, Franklin County offers the northernmost option for gambling in the MidAtlanic. Other New York-boundary locations for gambling include Cattaraugus Count, Erie County, Oneida County, Sullivan County, and Niagara County. Just a tad beyond the MidAtlantic, Niagara Falls is a popular New York destination for honeymooners, weddings, groups, and families. A side trip to the Seneca Niagara Casino or other New York state gambling location can be a nice complement to a larger vacation. It has great appeal for groups travelling with members of varied interests and ages.

Perryville, Maryland

This Perryville, Maryland casino destination is the first in all of the state of Maryland. No longer are gambling enthusiasts limited to the annual Preakness at Baltimore’s legendary Pimlico Race Track. Now, a trip to Baltimore can be supplemented with a side trip to Hollywood Casino Perryville, slated to open its doors September 30, 2010.

Berlin, Maryland

Ocean Downs is the first racetrack in the state of Maryland to be licensed to offer slot game machines. This small town in Maryland is also home to the annual Berlin Fiddlers’ Convention each year in September. Bluegrass music fans can expect quite a treat and can take a sidestep or two to Oceans Downs during their stay.
