Not Your College Dorm-Room Ramen Recipe

Not Your College Dorm-Room Ramen Recipe
Almost everyone has memories of college and eating ramen so much that years later they still can’t stomach it. However, my friend Kari, who is addicted to TikToc, sent me a TikToc video of ramen that is so good, everyone will start eating it again. Not Your College Dorm-Room Ramen is quick and easy, but has such good flavor, it will be devoured instantly.

While the recipe is for plain ramen (Kari’s kids make it for lunch by themselves and don’t add anything), you can add leftover vegetables or meat to make it a more substantial meal. Since you don’t use the flavoring packet from the package of ramen, add it to the water when you cook vegetables, to plain vinaigrette salad dressing, or to a stir-fry. Do try this flavorful ramen; it will surprise you how good packaged ramen can actually be.

Single Serving

1 3 oz. package ramen noodles, (any flavor - you won't be using the seasoning packet)

1 tablespoon butter
1/2 teaspoon finely minced garlic, (easiest from a jar)
1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes, or to taste
1 egg
Everything bagel seasoning

  1. Boil the noodles as directed on the package; drain.
  2. While they are cooking, melt the butter in a small skillet; add the garlic and let cook for a minute or two.
  3. Add the soy sauce, brown sugar, red pepper, and egg.
  4. Stir the drained noodles into the skillet and stir until they are incorporated.
  5. Sprinkle with bagel seasoning and enjoy.
